The only match of today’s 13th round in the TOPsport A Lyga featured an action-packed clash in Vilnius, where the home side Riteriai fell 2–4 to Hegelmann. Despite an early deficit, Andrius Skerla’s squad mounted an impressive comeback to secure the win and stay among the league’s front-runners.
The first half got off to a dream start for the hosts. In just the 3rd minute, Meinardas Mikulėnas opened the scoring with a well-placed header off a corner from Benjamin Mulahalilovič. The 22-year-old forward ended his six-game goal drought by scoring his sixth of the season. Moments later, in the 11th minute, Lazar Sajčić doubled the lead with a spectacular long-range strike into the top corner, catching the Hegelmann defense off guard.
But the visitors quickly regrouped and launched a comeback. In the 18th minute, Domantas Antanavičius tested Riteriai keeper Artiom Šankin with a powerful shot from distance. The pressure paid off in the 26th minute when Hegelmann was awarded a penalty, confidently converted by Lazar Kojić. Just minutes later, the score was level as Abdel Kader Njoya headed in from a corner to make it 2–2.
Riteriai tried to respond before the break, but Mulahalilovič’s header in the 43rd minute was saved by Šarkauskas. In the second half, it was Hegelmann who seized control. In the 68th minute, a low cross from Patrik Popescu was accidentally turned into his own net by Riteriai defender Niclas Hakansson, handing the visitors a 3–2 lead.
The Kaunas-based side continued to press and nearly extended their lead when Klaudijus Upstas struck the woodwork. But the fourth goal soon followed — a flowing team move sliced through Riteriai’s defense, and Njoya completed his brace with a clinical finish after an assist from Leo Ribeiro.
With this result, Hegelmann climbs to 27 points and remains firmly in the top tier of the standings. Meanwhile, Riteriai stays 9th with just 10 points, still searching for consistency in a tough campaign.
