A Lyga side FC Hegelmann have added to their coaching staff Spaniard Mikel Aramburu Erneta as the coach ahead of the 2026 campaign.
The 40-year-old coach arrives with a UEFA Pro Licence and a varied CV built across Europe and North America. He has worked in the United States and Mexico, where he held roles with Pumas UNAM’s academy and Mineros de Zacatecas.
“I’ve worked both in very big clubs and in projects where the responsibility is even greater because you have to build processes from scratch,” Aramburu Erneta said. “That has given me a very broad view of football and team management.”
The coach has also been involved in the Basque football scene, leading Tolosa CF and working at Pasaia KE in opposition analysis, scouting and match preparation. Both clubs are closely linked to the Real Sociedad system.
Aramburu Erneta said Hegelmann’s direction was a key factor in his decision to take the job.
“Talking to the club, I felt a clear project and the motivation to aim for the highest goals – both in the Lithuanian championship and in Europe,” he said. “I want to be part of a team that strives for progress every day.”
He added: “I’m a coach who gives 100% in every match and every training session. My goal is to help the team grow and achieve the highest results.”
Aramburu Erneta is not new to Lithuanian football, having worked last season with Babrungas, giving him first-hand knowledge of the local game and player development. He now joins Hegelmann’s staff as preparations continue for the start of the 2026 season.
