Harju JK Laagri have confirmed the departure of their central midfielder José Martin Ribeiro, who will continue his career in the Slovenian top flight with NK Domžale.
The 22-year-old Ukrainian midfielder joined Harju last summer, playing a pivotal role in their triumph in Estonia’s second division and their return to the Premium Liiga. In the current season, Ribeiro made 22 appearances in Estonia’s top tier, registering one assist.
A product of Dynamo Kyiv and Kolos Kovalivka’s youth academies, Ribeiro also spent half a season in Lithuania’s A Lyga with Dainava Alytus before arriving in Estonia. Now, he takes another step forward, joining a Domžale side that has endured a rocky start to the new Slovenian season, losing all four of their opening league matches.
Harju CEO Kalmar Liiv praised the move, saying: “We are very happy about José’s next career step. Our club’s mission has always been to give young players the opportunity to represent Harju’s first team and to play at the highest possible level in Estonia. This way we can support their development and help them reach the next level on the international stage to continue their football careers successfully. We wish José the very best from the entire Harju family. It is also great to see yet another Harju player making the move abroad.”
