FS Jelgava continue to expand their Czech connection with the registration of two new signings from the Czech Republic — midfielder Marek Polašek and attacking midfielder Filip Hašek. The pair join a squad that already features four Czech players, further deepening the club’s international presence.
Marek Polašek, a 23-year-old central midfielder, arrives from Czech second-tier side SK Artis Brno, where he spent the last two and a half seasons. Last season in the Czech National Football League, Polašek made 25 appearances, scoring twice and adding one assist. His most productive season came the year before, when he netted five goals in 27 league matches.
A product of the 1. FC Slovácko academy, Polašek joined the club at just nine years old and eventually earned two appearances in the Czech First League with Slovácko’s senior team before moving on to SK Artis Brno.
Filip Hašek, 28, adds valuable experience and creativity to Jelgava’s midfield. Known for his role as an attacking midfielder, Hašek has played for several notable Czech clubs including Bohemians 1905, Dukla Prague, and Česke Budějovice. His career has also taken him abroad, with stints in Slovakia, Greece, and Germany. Most recently, he played for FK Neratovice-Byškovice in the Czech lower divisions.
Adding a bit of sporting legacy to the move, Filip is the nephew of legendary Czech ice hockey goaltender Dominik Hašek.
