Flora could set an unwanted club record when they host Kuressaare on Tuesday as the reigning champions’ early-season problems deepen in the Premium liiga.
Konstantin Vassiljev’s side have lost their past three league matches – 1-0 at home to Nõmme Kalju, 2-0 away to Harju Laagri and 3-1 in Tartu against Tammeka – leaving them on three points from four games.
Vassiljev said his team have been punished for missed chances. “It is certainly not a pleasant situation, but it feels like it is one of those periods when nothing goes in our favour. We do not take some moments and against us everything goes in,” he told Soccernet TV after the defeat by Tammeka.
Flora last lost three consecutive top-flight games in 1995, during Roman Ubakivi’s spell in charge, when they were beaten by Lantana, Põlevkivi Jõhvi and Narva Trans. Defeat by Kuressaare at Sportland Arena (kickoff 19:00 local time) would make it four in a row in the league – a new club low.
The champions began the campaign with a 3-0 win over Nõmme United and also beat the same opponents 3-1 in the cup quarter-finals, but had already been beaten in both the Livonia Cup by Riga FC and Estonian Super Cup by Nõmme Kalju before the league season got under way.
