Flora suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to AIK in their second pre-season friendly of the winter, with the Swedish side scoring late in Stockholm.
The match, played at Strawberry Arena, was largely even and featured chances at both ends. Both teams made a series of changes after the break as the game moved into its final stages.
AIK found the breakthrough in the 88th minute when Axel Kouamé struck to decide the contest. Flora then had to survive another close call in stoppage time, as goalkeeper Kaur Kivila produced an outstanding save and Mihhail Kolobov cleared the danger.
Flora head coach Konstantin Vassiljev felt the performance was encouraging despite the late setback.
“It was a good game from us, although it’s a bit of a shame to concede right near the end,” Vassiljev said. “It’s a pity there are so few matches like this – we got to play a good opponent and enjoy a great atmosphere. There were a lot of challenges during the game, but the lads handled them well and gave everything. The goals we set for this period were met, and the information and experience we’ve gathered will help us improve our play. I hope the players enjoyed today.”
Flora are next in action on Saturday 31 January at 14:00, when they host Latvian side BFC Daugavpils at the Viljandi Männimäe football hall.
