FC Hegelmann have officially completed the signing of 23-year-old Spanish centre-back Ángel Puerto, who will wear the number 5 shirt for the Blue and Whites.

Born in Seville, Puerto is a product of the prestigious Sevilla FC academy. From 2018, he represented Sevilla’s U17, U18 and U19 teams, and in the spring of 2020 he signed his first professional contract with the most successful club in Andalusia. However, intense competition at senior level encouraged the defender to seek more regular playing time elsewhere.

In the summer of 2022, Puerto joined RC Deportivo Fabril, the reserve team of Deportivo La Coruña, where he made his professional debut in the Copa del Rey.

Ahead of the 2024–2025 season, the Spaniard moved to Atlético Sanluqueño CF, quickly becoming an important part of the squad. He made 27 appearances and scored two goals during the campaign. Before the 2025–2026 season, Puerto briefly joined Bulgarian top-flight side PFK Dobrudzha Dobrich, but left the club in December and decided to take on a new challenge in Lithuania.

Speaking about his decision to join FC Hegelmann, Ángel Puerto highlighted his belief in the club’s vision:

“I gained a lot of experience growing up at one of the biggest clubs in Spain. Now I want to show my abilities here in Lithuania. I am very confident about this decision because I believe we can grow together with the Blue and Whites and fight for big achievements.”

The defender also revealed that conversations with the club’s sporting director played a key role in his move:

“I spoke a lot with Vytautas, and he showed me how things work here. I really liked the working principles and the atmosphere at the club. My first impression was very positive, so I had no doubts about my decision.”

Asked what kind of player FC Hegelmann supporters can expect to see on the pitch, Puerto emphasized his versatility:

“I believe I can show my quality on the ball. that comes from my experience in Spain. But I’m also ready to fight hard without the ball and give everything to help the team.”

The Spanish defender also had a clear message for the fans ahead of the new season:

“The most important thing is that they come to the stadium and support us. Only together can we grow and achieve big things.”

Supporters will be able to see Ángel Puerto make his debut in Blue and White colours this Saturday, when Kauno rajonas FC Hegelmann face Wigry Suwałki in a friendly match in Marijampolė.
