FC Flora have added 15-year-old Maribel Laidmets to their women’s squad ahead of the new season.
The former Raplamaa JK player joins after scoring heavily in youth football, but is expected to feature in a different role in Tallinn. Head coach Karl-Sander Eensoo plans to use Laidmets as a full-back, having previously played mainly as a striker at club level.
Last season Laidmets scored 23 goals in 14 matches in the U17 Eliitliiga Esiliiga for Kohila Püsivus and the Kohila Püsivus–Raplamaa JK joint team. The year before, she struck 52 times in 20 games in the girls’ U16 competition.
Laidmets has also played women’s futsal in the Meistriliiga for Kohila Püsivus and has 15 caps and one goal for Estonia’s girls’ U17 side.
Flora begin their pre-season schedule on Saturday, 24 January at 14:00, hosting Finland’s Vantaa PK-35 in the Lilleküla hall. They face Latvia’s Riia FS Metta on 31 January at 16:00, before welcoming FC RFS in the Baltic League opener on 8 February at 17:00.
