One of the most in-demand prospects from Latvia’s top division, forward Faycal Konate, is set to continue his career in the Czech Republic. The 19-year-old is expected to join Karviná, who compete in the Czech top division, according to Baltic Football News information.
Konate, who has attracted interest from multiple clubs following a strong first season in Latvia with RFS and BFC Daugavpils – has agreed terms with Karviná. The clubs have reportedly reached an agreement on a transfer fee of around €1 million, with RFS also securing a sell-on percentage from future transfer.
The nearly two-meter-tall Burkina Faso striker arrived in Latvia last year after signing with RFS. He began the season largely with the club’s reserve side before being loaned to BFC Daugavpils in the summer window. Despite making just seven appearances for Daugavpils, Konate scored four goals, prompting a swift recall to RFS. While not a central part of head coach Viktors Morozs’ plans, he finished the season with the Rīga-based club.
Across the 2025 season, Konate made 14 senior appearances for RFS and Daugavpils combined, scoring five goals. He also added five goals in eight matches for the RFS reserve team.
During the offseason, Konate was linked – per reports from AfricaFoot – with several European clubs, including Slavia Prague, Stade Rennais, Club Brugge, Sparta Prague, and Braga, with Slavia Prague reportedly submitting an offer.
Ultimately, Karviná are set to secure the striker’s signature. The club currently sits sixth in the Czech First League standings.
