**In what has been a days of uncertainty and mixed signals, the TOPsport A Lyga’s 12th round is now officially set to feature all five scheduled matches, including the yesterday’s once-postponed clash between FA Šiauliai and Gargždai’s Banga.**

As we [reported yesterday](https://balticfootballnews.com/infection-outbreak-forces-match-postponement-in-a-lyga/), the league initially announced that Saturday’s match would be postponed following a formal request from FA Šiauliai due to an infection outbreak within the team. The decision was originally made in light of concerns over player health and safety.

However, in a swift turn of events, the A Lyga administration reviewed the situation once again and has reversed the decision, confirming that the match will go ahead as planned on May 18 at 4:00 PM, at Šiauliai City Municipality Stadium.

_“We re-examined the request, reviewed additional medical documentation, and considered all stakeholder perspectives,”_ said A Lyga director **Vaidotas Zajarskas**. _“Player health is a priority, but it’s clear the situation is under control. The club has enough fit players to fulfill the fixture, and rescheduling would only add pressure to an already packed calendar.”_

The situation took an especially tense turn after the initial postponement, when Banga sporting director **Robertas Vėževičius** voiced strong disapproval in an interview with **_15min.lt_,** claiming the decision was made without their agreement. _“Only one team was heard,”_ Vėževičius said. _“They claim eight first-team players are sick — but how many players are on the roster? At least 25, plus the reserves. The match was postponed without our consent.”_

He also criticized the proposed makeup date — during the international break in early June (6–8) — saying many Banga players would already be unavailable. _“Half of our squad already has plans for that break,”_ he added. _“Frankly, it seems Šiauliai are just dealing with a wave of injuries after the Dainava match. And Martynas Dapkus was sent off. This whole thing doesn’t smell right.”_
