As FA Šiauliai begin shaping their squad for the new season, the club has announced the signing of goalkeeper Vilius Šivickas.
The 20-year-old, born in Tytuvėnai, progressed through the Kelmė Sports Centre before moving to Kaunas and later gaining senior experience in the Pirma Lyga (Lithuanian second tier). His final stop before arriving in Šiauliai was FK Jonava, where he established himself as first choice, playing 30 matches and conceding 25 goals.
“I look back on last season very positively. I gained a lot of match experience, felt confident on the pitch and made my debut for the U21 national team,” Šivickas said.
He cited FA Šiauliai’s ambitions as decisive: “The biggest motivation was the opportunity to play in the A Lyga and be part of a team with clear goals. The club showed trust in me and presented a plan that matched my own.”
Representing a club from his home region adds extra meaning. “It is a great honour and responsibility. I want to show that players from smaller towns can succeed at the highest level,” he added.
Šivickas was also named among recent Baltic Football News Top 10 Lithuanian Goalkeepers to watch out for.
