Trevor Hint says he knows Wolfsburg hold him in high regard after the 17-year-old midfielder was invited to train with the Bundesliga club’s first team.

The Estonia youth international moved from Nõmme United to Wolfsburg in 2024 after making 11 Premium liiga appearances for the Tallinn side during their first season in the top flight. Before that, he had started out at Nõmme Kalju, but said the switch to United was made because it offered a better route abroad at an earlier age.

Hint has spent close to two years in Germany and has played for Wolfsburg’s youth sides, while also getting a taste of senior-level football at the club. He told Soccernet that he had shared the training pitch with players including Christian Eriksen and said the experience had shown him how much the club value him.

My older brother played for Kalju and I went there as well. It was the logical decision,” Hint said of his first steps in football. On the later move to United, he added: “There was no problem with Kalju. We simply saw that from United there was a better chance to move abroad earlier.”

Looking back on his spell in the Premium liiga, Hint said reaching the top division at such a young age had been satisfying, but not something he treated as an end in itself. “It was a good feeling, but it was not a separate goal for me that I absolutely had to play in the Premium liiga,” he said. “It was just a great achievement. It was not something that should send me into the clouds straight away. It was the result of my work.
