The Estonian Football Association (EJL) has announced a new cooperation agreement with the German Football Association aimed at strengthening ties between the two organisations with focus on sharing expertise and developing joint work across key areas of the football, with the federations looking to build closer links through regular engagement.

Markus Stenger, Director of Football Development and Amateur Football at the German Football Association, met with his Estonian counterparts at A. Le Coq Arena, where he outlined Germany’s efforts to increase participation in grassroots football and discussed approaches to fostering sports leadership. He also presented various projects carried out in cooperation with regional associations.

As a next step, a delegation from the Estonian Football Association will visit the German Football Association to address more specific topics and to visit one regional association.

Cooperation with our German colleagues is very important to us. This is the world’s largest association, with top-level expertise and a great deal to learn from. Of course, we cannot compare their activities with ours one-to-one, as the scale is so different. At the same time, much of what they do is relevant for us. That is why, in addition to cooperation with the German Football Association, we are planning closer collaboration with one of their regional associations. Many thanks to the German Football Association for their very friendly and open attitude,” said EJL Secretary General Mihkel Uiboleht.

The meeting with Markus Stenger was attended by EFA Technical Director Mario Hansi, Training Director Ludvig Tasane, Head of Grassroots Football Martti Pukk, Secretary General Mihkel Uiboleht, and Deputy Secretary General Karolin Kaivoja.
