A few days after parting ways with FK Kauno Žalgiris, where he spent a remarkable 10 seasons, midfielder Edvinas Kloniūnas has officially found a new home. The 26-year-old will continue his career at FK TransINVEST, the current leaders of Lithuania’s second division.
The announcement was made through his agency’s official Instagram account.
“We are pleased to confirm that our client, Edvinas Kloniūnas, has completed a transfer from FK Kauno Žalgiris to Vilnius TransINVEST. We would like to thank FK Kauno Žalgiris for the trust and support they have shown Edvinas during his time there. As always, we remain committed to supporting his development on and off the pitch. We wish Edvinas and TransINVEST a successful partnership in the seasons ahead,” stated his agent, Alanas Gulbinas.
Kloniūnas, who also had brief stints abroad in Armenia and Croatia, did not feature in any matches during the current A Lyga season. However, he made 25 appearances in the previous campaign.
Now, he joins a highly ambitious FK TransINVEST side that is dominating the second tier. With 42 points from 15 matches, the Vilnius-based club is leading the Pirma lyga and eyeing promotion to the top flight.
Kloniūnas’ arrival is expected to further strengthen their squad as they push for A Lyga football in the upcoming season.
