Latvian footballer Eduards Tīdenbergs has signed with Serbian second-division club FK Dubočica Leskovac after parting ways with FK Liepāja.
The 30-year-old midfielder, born on December 18, 1994, in Ventspils, Latvia, brings a wealth of experience to his new club. Tīdenbergs began his professional career at FK Ventspils, where he quickly became an essential player. He played a crucial role in the team’s success, helping them secure the Latvian Championship in 2014 and the Latvian Cup in 2017. Over the years, he established himself as a key figure at the club, even serving as captain.
In August 2020, Tīdenbergs made the switch to FK Liepāja, where he spent five seasons. He was a vital part of the team, making 26 appearances in the 2023 Virslīga season, scoring four goals, and providing 12 assists. However, his time at FK Liepāja ended on a controversial note in early 2024.
In March, Tīdenbergs was suspended for three months for making racist comments towards Gambia-born basketball player Shannon Evans in an online exchange. The incident cast a shadow over his final months at the club. In total, Tīdenbergs played 1,071 minutes across 13 matches in the 2024 season before departing.
Now, Tīdenbergs is looking for a fresh start in Serbia. FK Dubočica Leskovac, currently 14th in the Serbian Prva Liga, has collected 18 points from 20 matches and is battling to improve its position. With this move, Tīdenbergs becomes the second Latvian player to compete in Serbia’s second tier, following Aleksejs Grjaznovs, who plays for second-place FK Mladost GAT.
