FK Kauno Žalgiris supporters will not see Dejan Kerkez in the squad for the 2026 season. The Serbian defender, who helped the team win this year’s Lithuanian championship, will depart the club following the expiration of his contract and will now look for a new team.
The 29-year-old joined FK Kauno Žalgiris late in the preseason and ultimately was unable to secure a regular place in the starting lineup.
During the Lithuanian league campaign, Kerkez made eight appearances, featured in three LFF Cup matches, and played in two UEFA Europa Conference League qualifying games.
“I would like to thank my teammates, the coaches, all the staff, and the fans. Winning the first league title in the club’s history is something I will always remember and appreciate. I believe this club will be even more successful in the future,” the defender told Zalgiris.lt in his farewell message.
FK Kauno Žalgiris thanked Kerkez for his professionalism both on and off the pitch and wished him success in the next stage of his career.
