# Daugavpils move into Virsliga’s European places after win at Jelgava
BFC Daugavpils climbed to fourth in the Virsliga after Abdoul Kader Traore’s 78th-minute goal secured a 1-0 win away to Jelgava on Sunday. The result took Daugavpils to 48 points, one ahead of Liepāja, with a place in next season’s European competitions at stake.

Traore beat defender Kristers Alekseičiks before shooting from distance. Jelgava goalkeeper Adam Dvorak was unable to keep the effort out. The sides had created chances before the break as Daniel Kivinda was denied by Dvorak, while Jelgava’s Miloš Pudil shot wide after going one-on-one with Jānis Beks.

Jelgava had slightly more of possession, 55.2% to 44.8%, and led 12-11 in shots, but could not find an equaliser. The defeat left them seventh on 32 points.
