BFC Daugavpils announced the signing of three new players to strengthen midfield and the defensive line ahead of their 2025 Virslīga campaign.
As the Latvian Virslīga season gets underway, the news are finally beginning to drip out the the secretive BFC Daugavpils camp. Yesterday, the club announced three further additions to the squad: Toumani Diakite, Williams Wasiri Ola and Shunsuke Murakami.
Williams Wasiri Ola (24) – a dual British-Nigerian national born in London, Williams is a 188cm tall centre-back with experience of playing football all over the British Isles. Despite being on the roster of such clubs as Swansea City, his career is yet to take off and the 24 year old will hope to remedy that with the Latgale club, which have a gaping hole left in their defence following a long-term and, potentially, career ending injury of their standout centre-back Rinalds Aizups last season.
Shunsuke Murakami (24) – a Japanese right-back is joining the club from Argentine fourth tier side CA Germinal, having previously also played in Australian second tier for Heidelberg United FC. Not much is known about this player.
Little is also known about the final arrival – Toumani Diakite from Cote d^Ivoire – other than he plays midfield and that this will be his first experience of playing football in Europe.
Daugavpils start their season at home against FK Tukums 2000 on March 7th at 17:30.
