Latvian club BFC Daugavpils, who recorded the best league finish in their history last season, have announced the signing of Dutch defender Ziad Ouled-Haj-M’hand.
The 23-year-old’s primary position is centre-back, though he is also capable of playing on the defensive flank. His most recent club was Albanian side KF Tirana, where he made one official appearance.
Earlier in his career, Ouled-Haj-M’hand spent seasons in the lower divisions in Austria, the Netherlands, and Germany. Before moving to Albania, he completed a full campaign in Slovenia’s second division with ND Gorica, making 27 appearances and contributing three goals and two assists.
Ouled-Haj-M’hand becomes BFC Daugavpils’ first signing of the current offseason. The club finished fourth in the Virslīga last season, which marked their highest-ever placement. However, due to FK Auda winning the Latvian Cup, fourth place was not sufficient for Daugavpils to qualify for European competition for a second consecutive year.
