In a move that signals both faith and ambition, Italian Serie A club Parma Calcio 1913 has announced the contract extension of 21-year-old Latvian striker Dario Šits. The new deal will keep the promising forward at the club until June 30, 2028.

Šits made his move to Italy in 2020, joining Parma from FK Metta. While his early years were spent largely developing in the youth ranks, he made five appearances in Serie B and one in the Coppa Italia during his initial stint with the senior squad.

The path to consistent first-team action has been anything but smooth. In 2023, Šits was loaned to Serie C side SPAL, where misfortune struck early—he suffered a torn ACL in his debut match. Despite the setback, the young forward showed resilience and determination in his recovery.

Following his rehabilitation, Šits was loaned out once again, this time to Dutch Eerste Divisie club Helmond Sport. There, he found his rhythm, scoring six goals and providing three assists in 20 matches. However, injury woes returned, sidelining him for the final stretch of the season.

Šits has also begun making his mark on the international stage, having earned five caps and netted two goals for the Latvian national team.

Parma, under the guidance of Romanian head coach Cristian Chivu, finished the most recent Serie A campaign in 16th place, accumulating 36 points over 38 matches.
