In the Scottish Premiership, Daniels Balodis made his league debut today as his team, St Johnstone, lost 1-3 against Kilmarnock, ending their four-game winning streak.
The 26-year-old defender debuted in the Cup match last week, in which St Johnstone defeated Hamilton 1-0, advancing to the Scottish Cup quarter-finals.
Balodis started again today, playing alongside former FK Auda defender Bozo Mikulic and Scottish defender Barry Douglas in a three-man backline.
Kilmarnock took an early lead when Liam Polworth scored in the 9th minute. In the second half, the home team scored two more goals within four minutes, putting Simo Valakari’s side in a tough spot as St Johnstone’s winning streak was in ruins.
In the 91st minute, St. Johnstone scored a consolation goal, thanks to experienced Irish player Graham Carey.
In his first full match in Scotland, Daniels Balodis made a positive impression, recording five clearances, six interceptions, three tackles, one blocked shot, and winning eight out of 13 duels.
St Johnstone remains at the bottom of the table with 21 points, six points behind 11th-place Dundee FC.
Their next game will be next Sunday when Balodis and his team face Hearts in the Scottish Premiership.
