# Daniel Bolufer: Kalju delivered a solid performance
**Paide Linnameeskond missed an opportunity to secure a top 3 finish and European football for next season after suffering a 0-2 home defeat to Nõmme Kalju in Matchday 34 of the Estonian Premium Liiga.**

Despite enjoying more possession, Paide struggled to turn their territorial advantage into clear-cut opportunities. The hosts registered ten shots compared to Kalju’s 12, but the visitors were considerably more dangerous in front of goal, recording 2.38 expected goals (xG) against Paide’s 0.91.

Following the match, assistant coach Bolufer spoke to Baltic Football News about the defeat.

**How would you sum up the game from your perspective?**

“Kalju understood what was at stake in one of the final games and delivered a very solid performance. They took their chances, defended well and showed resilience when we put them under pressure and created opportunities to score.”

**What went wrong today, was the red card and the penalty the final nail in the coffin?**

“The red card and the penalty that followed came at a time when we were looking comfortable, pushing forward and getting into their box. It was a turning point in the game and had a major impact on the final 25 minutes.

“There’s no time to dwell on this result. We have to pick ourselves up, learn from it and turn our full focus to Saturday’s final against Pärnu Vaprus.”

Paide remain second in the Premium Liiga standings with 60 points, holding a two-point advantage over third-placed Flora Tallinn and a three-point lead over fourth-placed Nõmme Kalju. With two matches remaining, the race for European qualification remains open.
