Former Latvian national team head coach and current FA Šiauliai manager Dainis Kazakevičs is set to embark on a new chapter in his football career. Starting next season, he will take on the role of Technical Director for the Kyrgyz Football Federation, marking a significant move to Central Asia.
Kazakevičs officially signed his contract with the Kyrgyz Federation today. As Technical Director, he will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of football development in the country. His responsibilities will include overseeing sporting decisions and contributing to long-term planning across all levels of the game. In essence, Kazakevičs will become a key figure in Kyrgyzstan’s ambitious football transformation.
The Latvian coach will finish the current season with FA Šiauliai before relocating to Kyrgyzstan this winter. The move comes at a time when Kyrgyzstan is intensifying its investment in football, inspired by regional neighbor Uzbekistan’s recent qualification for the FIFA World Cup. Massive infrastructure projects are already underway, including the rapid construction of a state-of-the-art stadium with a capacity of 50,000 spectators. The nation is eager to make its mark on the international football stage.
Kazakevičs began his coaching journey with FK Jelgava, where he spent several years and captured the Latvian Cup. In 2013, he took the reins of Latvia’s U-21 national team and, after nearly seven years in youth football, was promoted to manage the senior national team—a position he held for four years. Earlier this year, Kazakevičs took on his first international club role with FA Šiauliai in Lithuania. Now, his career enters a new phase as a football executive, tasked with helping shape the future of Kyrgyz football.
