Latvian champions Riga FC have confirmed that centre-back Maksims Semeško will spend the upcoming season on loan with FS Jelgava.

The 21-year-old defender has been part of the Riga FC system since 2023, when he joined the club from the Ventspils academy, where he began his football career. His first-team opportunities at Riga have been limited, with mostly playing for the capital city reserve team.

Semeško has made one official appearance for Riga FC, coming on as a substitute in a Virslīga match against BFC Daugavpils during the 2024 season. Previously, Maksims has also been loaned out to FK Metta and FK Tukums 2000.

Last season, he featured regularly for Tukums, making 15 first-team appearances and registering one assist in the league. Now, the young centre-back takes the next step in his development by joining FS Jelgava, who finished sixth in the Virslīga last season.

A regular representative of Latvia’s youth national teams at all levels, Semeško becomes the second addition to head coach Aleksandrs Basovs’ squad ahead of the new campaign. Earlier, Jelgava had already announced the arrival of Kristofers Rēķis from FK Metta as part of their offseason reinforcements.
