Latvian champions FC RFS have officially announced the signing of FS Jelgava defender Roberts Veips. The 25-year-old joins RFS on loan until the end of the season, with the club retaining an option to make the move permanent.

Veips joined FS Jelgava ahead of the current season after spending three years with Valmiera FC, where he was part of the squad that lifted the Virslīga title in 2022. So far this season, he has featured in 18 league matches for Jelgava.

A product of the Skonto Academy, Veips moved abroad at a young age, joining the youth ranks of Italian club Sampdoria in 2016. After several seasons in Italy, including a stint with Serie D side GSD Ambrosiana, he returned to Latvia in 2021 to sign with FK Auda. That same year, he played a key role in helping the club earn promotion to the Virslīga.

Veips moved to Valmiera FC the following season, where he made 53 appearances and scored twice during his tenure, highlighted by the 2022 league title.

Internationally, Veips has represented Latvia at all youth levels but has yet to receive a call-up to the senior national team.
