The Latvian National Futsal team is set to make history later this month as it prepares to debut at the UEFA Futsal European Championship finals, which will be hosted on home soil. Ahead of the landmark tournament, the coaching staff has announced an expanded 18-man squad, from which the final 15 players will be selected shortly before the competition begins.

The team will begin its pre-tournament training camp on Sunday, marking the final phase of preparations for the biggest event in Latvian futsal history.

Head coach Massimiliano Bellarte has called up players representing five domestic clubs, as well as Latvian players playing abroad in Belgium, Poland, Italy, and Portugal.

Latvia’s preparation for the European Championship has been extensive. Over the course of the year, the national team has played 14 matches, recording seven wins, two draws, and five defeats.

The UEFA Futsal EURO finals will take place from January 21 to February 7 and will be hosted across three countries for the first time in history: Latvia, Lithuania, and Slovenia. Latvia’s debut campaign will feature three home matches at the Xiaomi Arena in Rīga, where they will face Georgia on January 21, France on January 25, and Croatia on January 28.
