FK Banga received a major boost as UEFA confirmed their move to the second qualifying round of the Conference League. With matches set for July 24 and 31 and top clubs like AZ Alkmaar and Rapid Wien as potential opponents, excitement is building. The home leg will take place at Gargždai City Stadium.
Yesterday, UEFA announced revised allocations for its club competitions, with significant implications for Lithuanian football. Due to the ongoing exclusion of russian clubs from European competitions, last year’s Lithuanian Cup winners—FK Banga Gargždai—have been promoted directly from the first to the second qualifying round (QR2) of the UEFA Europa Conference League.
Banga will now play their Conference League qualifiers on July 24 and 31, with their opponents to be revealed on June 18 during the second-round draw. Among potential adversaries are notable European sides such as AZ Alkmaar, Rapid Wien, Sparta Praha, Omonia Nicosia, Jagiellonia Białystok, Hajduk Split, NK Maribor, and Rosenborg BK.
In another boost for the club and its supporters, UEFA has approved Gargždai City Stadium (Gargždų miesto stadionas) – Banga’s 2300 capacity home ground – as the venue for the home leg.
