Latest Baltic Power Rankings are in and there are a few noteworthy changes in how the 30 clubs from across the Baltics compare to one another. As before, Estonia is already in Game Week (GW) 11, so only their results from GW10 are reflected in this latest calibration.
While there was no movement among the Top 11, both Žalgiris and Levadia dropped out of the 1000+ coefficient elite, leaving only the two Latvian grands – RFS and Riga FC – in this ever-shrinking group. Žalgiris are likely not going to be out for too long, however, as they are only 2 coefficient points below the 1000 threshold. Still, at least for now, the two Riga clubs can proudly claim the regalia of the Baltic cream of the crop!
Further down the table, Hegelmann and Daugavpils exchanged places while Grobiņa continues to fall without a parachute, now down to 21st and only 127 coefficient points clear of the bottom. Given that they already lost 57 coefficient points since the start of the season, falling all the way to the bottom unless some decisive action by the senior leadership is taken does not seem out of the realm of possibility. Super Nova and Narva Trans also lost 2 places each, now in 23rd and 17th respectively.
The big sensation after GW10 was, without a doubt, Nõmme Kalju, who gained a whopping 4 places, climbing up to 15th, and are now within 8 coefficient points of FK Metta, just above them. This boost came on the back of a dramatic 3-2 win over FC Flora – a game which featured two missed penalties, including a 95th minute missed penalty by Rauno Sappinen that could have tied the game, and two red cards (both to Kalju).
Another Estonian team that had done well for themselves are Kalev, who seem to have collected themselves somewhat and won 1-0 at home against Paide, thus gaining 3 places, up to 25th. They are now back where they started coming into GW1.
