Balodis with a half in Slovakia, Grabovskis’ team secures back-to-back wins

Several Latvian internationals were in action across Europe today. Daniels Balodis featured for Tatran Prešov as they held Komárno to a 0-0 draw in the Slovak Super Liga, while Kristaps Grabovskis B.93 secure their second consecutive win in Denmark’s second tier.

In Slovakia, the 27-year-old Balodis played the first half before being substituted, helping Prešov keep a clean sheet. Fellow Latvian Gļebs Patika, 20, watched from the bench for the fourth league game in a row. Since moving from Scottish side St Johnstone, Balodis has made 10 league appearances, while Patika has featured only once. Prešov sit 10th with eight points from 10 games.

In Denmark’s second tier, Grabovskis played 62 minutes as B.93 defeated Aarhus Fremad 2-1 away. The 20-year-old attacking midfielder had scored the winning goal in B.93’s previous home victory, and today the team secured back-to-back wins for the first time this season. B.93 move up to seventh with 17 points from 12 matches. Grabovskis has tallied one goal and two assists in 11 league appearances this season.

Sogndal’s Winless Run Continues in Norway
In Norway’s second tier, Lūkass Vapne and Sogndal suffered a 0-2 away defeat to Aalesund, marking Sogndal’s fifth consecutive game without a win. Vapne played the full 90 minutes in his 25th appearance of the season, registering four goals and four assists so far. Sogndal have fallen from a stable top-five position to eighth, three points behind sixth place – the final play-off spot. Their next match is at home against league leaders Start on October 18.

Latvians in Czech Republic and Switzerland
In the Czech First League, Raimonds Krollis came off the bench for Slovan Liberec in a goalless draw against Bohemians 1905. The 23-year-old forward, who recently played 120 minutes in the Czech Cup, has started from the bench in four league games since returning from injury. Liberec sit fifth with 16 points from 11 matches.

Meanwhile, in Switzerland, Latvian international Andrejs Cigaņiks remained on the bench as FC Luzern drew 3-3 at home against FC Sion, relinquishing a two-goal lead while being a man up. The 28-year-old for the second time this season was not featured in the league game for the Swiss side.

Luzern are seventh in the league with 12 points from eight matches.
