Latvian side FK Auda have announced the signing of Argentine left-back Iván Erquiaga, just hours after his departure from fellow Virslīga club Riga FC was officially confirmed.
Earlier today, Riga FC revealed that they had mutually agreed to terminate their contract with the 26-year-old defender. Not long after, FK Auda made their move, confirming that Erquiaga had joined their ranks ahead of the second half of the season.
Erquiaga featured in seven matches for Riga FC this season, all of them as a starter. However, he has been absent from the matchday squad since May 1, when Riga faced Super Nova. The Argentine joined Riga FC ahead of the 2024 season, and in his debut year in Europe — 2023 — he quickly established himself as a regular starter. He made 26 league appearances, scored once, and registered four assists.
Before moving to Europe, Erquiaga played exclusively in his native Argentina. He made 25 top-flight appearances with Estudiantes LP, had a brief stint with CA Huracán, and spent two seasons in Argentina’s second division with Quilmes.
