According to information published in the Latvian Football Federation’s transfer register, FK Auda strengthened their squad on the final day of the Virslīga winter transfer window by signing two players who have already made their debuts for their respective national teams – Panamanian midfielder Ariel Arroyo and Peruvian left-sided defender Sebastián Aranda.
The 21-year-old Arroyo has spent his entire career so far in his home country of Panama. Playing for Árabe Unido, a club competing in Panama’s top division, the midfielder has made 37 appearances and scored two goals. Arroyo’s primary position is defensive midfielder, though he is also capable of playing as a centre-back.
Arroyo made his senior debut for the Panama national team in January this year, appearing in a friendly match against Mexico. The young player also captained Panama’s U-20 national team at last year’s FIFA U-20 World Cup, where the team’s campaign ended in the group stage.
The second signing is Sebastián Aranda. Like Arroyo, Aranda has spent his career so far in his home country. The 22-year-old left-sided defender has made five appearances this season for Sport Boys Association, and across his career has played 75 matches in Peru’s top division. Aranda has also earned one cap for the Peru national team, coming on as a substitute in a friendly against Bolivia in December. In addition, he has represented Peru’s U-20 national team 12 times.
Auda, who won the Latvian Cup last season, began the new campaign with a 2-1 victory over Super Nova. Their next Virslīga match will take place tomorrow, when they travel to face FK Grobiņa.
