In the Czech First League, Lithuania international winger Artūr Dolžnikov came off the bench, but his Sigma Olomouc side suffered a 0-1 defeat against Viktoria Plzeň. The hosts finished the match with just nine men after picking up two red cards.
Fresh from the international break, the 25-year-old returned to club duty but started on the bench once again – his third straight match as a substitute – as Olomouc hosted Plzeň.
The visitors struck first in the 30th minute, when Nigerian forward Rafiu Durosinmi found the net with a well-placed finish. The task became even tougher for Sigma in the second half: in the 58th minute, Guinean defender Abdoulaye Sylla was shown a straight red card, and just eight minutes later Nigerian striker Ahmad Ghali was also sent off, leaving the home side down to nine players.
Chasing the game at 0-1, Dolžnikov was introduced in the 87th minute. Deep into stoppage time, in the 95th minute, he picked up a yellow card -his second of the season. This was his fifth league appearance of the campaign.
Following the loss, Sigma Olomouc dropped to sixth place in the table with 13 points from eight matches. Their next fixture comes next Saturday at home against Teplice, where Dolžnikov will be hoping for a bigger role.
