A homecoming awaits Domantas Antanavičius, who has officially signed a contract with his boyhood club FK Sūduva, becoming the first addition in this off-season for the club that finished 4th in the A Lyga last season.
It was officially announced earlier today that Antanavičius would be leaving A Lyga runners-up FC Hegelmann. Just a few hours later, FK Sūduva followed up with the news of the holding midfielder’s return to the club where his professional career first began.
Antanavičius, who is born and raised in Marijampole, started his professional journey with FK Sūduva, making 35 appearances in the club’s colors before moving on to fellow Lithuanian side Stumbras. He then spent nearly five years abroad, with spells in Estonia at Maardu, in Slovenia with Triglav and Celje, and in Kazakhstan with Atyrau. Between his Slovenian and Kazakh stints, he also had a loan spell at FK Panevėžys.
In 2024, he joined FC Hegelmann, where he went on to make 81 appearances, scoring five goals across all competitions.
The midfielder, who has earned six caps for the Lithuanian national team, spoke about his return to his hometown club on Sūduva’s official website:
“I always dreamed of returning home. When I was younger, I learned a great deal at Sūduva, and now I am coming back more experienced and ready to contribute myself,” said Antanavičius.
“The decision to return was not difficult. Sūduva’s head coach Donatas Vencevičius called me, and I believe we share a common vision. He can help me develop further as a player. Returning to my hometown club adds even more meaning. Everything about this move is positive. I will do everything I can to help the team finish as high as possible next season, and we will go into every match aiming to win.”
FK Sūduva are set to begin preparations for the new season with their first training sessions scheduled for the first half of January.
