Lithuanian vice-champions FC Hegelmann have continued to announce departures from their squad, with the club now confirming that Domantas Antanavičius will not be part of the team next season.
The 27-year-old holding midfielder spent the last two seasons with Hegelmann and was one of the most important figures in the squad. Over that period, Antanavičius was the club’s most-used player in terms of minutes, making 81 appearances across all competitions and scoring five goals.
Speaking in his farewell message to supporters, Antanavičius expressed his gratitude:
“A big thank you to the fans. It was a great honor to play with your support. I wish you to continue what you are doing – support the team and grow the community.”
Born in Marijampolė and developed at the FK Sūduva academy, Antanavičius made his professional debut with Sūduva before going on to represent FK Stumbras and FK Panevėžys in Lithuania. His career has also included several seasons abroad, where he became a Slovenian champion with NK Celje, while also featuring for Triglav in Slovenia, Maardu in Estonia, and Atyrau in the Kazakhstan Premier League. The midfielder also has six appearances for the Lithuanian National team.
Antanavičius is not the only key figure to leave Hegelmann during the offseason. With the significantly reduced budget for the upcoming campaign, the club has already parted ways with head coach Andrius Skerla, as well as several core players including Leo Ribeiro, Klaudijus Upstas, Vincentas Šarkauskas, and Arijus Bražinskas.
