FK Liepāja have announced the signing of Sint Maarten international winger Chovanie Amatkarijo, with the club securing the 26-year-old on a one-year contract that includes an option to extend.
Born in The Hague, Amatkarijo brings solid experience from Scandinavian football, having spent the last five seasons in Sweden. During the most recent campaign, the wide attacker started the year with GAIS, making nine appearances in the Swedish top flight, before moving on loan in the second half of the season to Östersunds FK. In Sweden’s second tier, he made a strong impression, recording three goals and four assists in 15 league matches. The winger will now look to become a key player for FK Liepāja Swedish manager Andreas Alm.
Amatkarijo began his professional career in the Netherlands with ADO Den Haag, where he made his Eredivisie debut at just 17 years old, coming on as a substitute in a match against Ajax. His career path has also included spells in the Dutch second division with RKC Waalwijk, as well as a brief loan stint in Croatia’s top league with NK Istra.
On the international stage, Amatkarijo is a key figure for Sint Maarten, having scored eight goals in 16 appearances for the national team.
