The Latvian Football Federation (LFF) today announced that all ten clubs eligible on sporting merit have been granted an LFF A licence to compete in the 2026 Virslīga season.
The decision was taken on Thursday by the LFF Club Licensing First Instance Body following a review of the submitted applications. All clubs met the licensing requirements set out in the federation’s regulations.
According to the LFF, the licences were awarded after expert assessments confirmed compliance across all required areas, including legal, sporting, personnel and administrative, social and environmental sustainability, infrastructure, and financial criteria. As a result, every applicant that qualified for the top division on sporting grounds successfully passed the licensing process.
The 2026 Virslīga season, which is scheduled to begin in early March, will feature the following clubs: Riga FC, FC RFS, FK Liepāja, BFC Daugavpils, FK Auda, FS Jelgava, FK Tukums 2000, SK Super Nova, FK Grobiņa, and Ogre United, who enter the league as winners of the Nākotnes Līga.
