Alex Matthias Tamm is enjoying a fantastic start to his time in Slovenia, having scored in his first two games for NK Olimpija Ljubljana and also providing an assist today in their comeback win over Koper, which ended 2-1.
The 23-year-old Estonian forward debuted in the Slovenian top flight last week, scoring the opening goal against ND Primorje before being substituted in the 62nd minute. In today’s match, he was in the starting lineup and played the full game for Olimpija.
Olimpija, the league leaders, had a rough beginning when Koper took the lead in the 13th minute due to a significant mistake by goalkeeper Vidovsek, which was capitalized on by Australian striker Juric.
Olimpija ended the first half trailing 0-1 despite dominating possession and creating chances. However, Tamm made a decisive impact in the second half. In the 57th minute, he scored with an impressive acrobatic Haaland-esque move after a beautiful cross from Brest. This marked his second goal in as many games for his new club.
In the 74th minute, Tamm was again involved in the action. With his back to goal, he received the ball and skillfully set up Austrian forward Raul Florucz, who scored his ninth goal of the season, putting Olimpija ahead 2-1.
Having previously been the top scorer in the Premium Liiga for Nomme Kalju, Tamm has now made two appearances for Olimpija, scoring twice and providing one assist.
Olimpija sits at the top of the table with 45 points after 20 matches, six points clear of second-place Maribor.
Tamm’s next game for Olimpija will be crucial, as they travel to Bosnia on Thursday to face Borac Banja Luka in the UEFA Europa Conference League play-off round.
