Estonian striker Alex Matthias Tamm scored his first goal after an injury in the Slovenian PrvaLiga, netting his fifth goal of the season to help Olimpija Ljubljana secure a 1–1 away draw against Mura.
Starting for the second consecutive match, Tamm made an immediate impact, opening the scoring in the 14th minute with a hustler’s goal. Applying pressure on Mura’s 17-year-old goalkeeper Aljaž Strajnar, who was making just his third top-flight appearance, Tamm forced a critical mistake. Strajnar’s attempted clearance ricocheted off the Estonian’s leg and bounced straight into the net — a classic poacher’s finish born from relentless pressing.
But Olimpija’s lead didn’t last long. Just four minutes later, Dario Vizinger brought Mura level with a sharp finish off a pinpoint cross from Žan Petrovič. Despite going down to ten men in the 35th minute — captain Kai Cipot receiving a second yellow — Mura held firm, and the sides went into the break deadlocked at 1–1.
Though Olimpija had a man advantage for much of the second half and even went two men up in stoppage time after Faad Sana was sent off, they couldn’t find a winner. Head coach Victor Sanchez, the Spaniard at the helm, made a triple substitution in the 68th minute, which included taking off Tamm, but the breakthrough never came.
Tamm, who joined Olimpija this past winter, has now scored five goals and made two assists in just 11 league appearances. NK Olimpija Ljubljana currently leads the league with 70 points and has two games remaining. Their closest rivals, Maribor, are seven points behind but still have three games left to play. If Maribor drops points against Primorje tomorrow, Tamm and Olimpija will be crowned champions.
However, they also have the opportunity to secure the title themselves. Next Saturday, they will host Radomlje, and a victory would guarantee their championship, regardless of Maribor’s performance.
