Estonian international striker Alex Matthias Tamm comples a loan move to Scottish Premiership side Livingston from Slovenian champions Olimpija Ljubljana for the remainder of the season.
The 24-year-old joined Olimpija in January 2025 and made an explosive start to life in Slovenia, scoring six goals in 12 league matches. His good start of the career at the club helped in Olimpija’s successful title charge, as the club went on to lift the Slovenian championship.
However, following the departure of the title-winning head coach, the situation at Olimpija changed dramatically. The club have since gone through three managerial changes, and the instability took its toll on Tamm’s role in the squad. This season, he struggled for consistent minutes, making 13 league appearances, only three of them starts, and scoring once, as he fell out of favour as the team’s first-choice striker.
Now, Tamm will look to reignite his career in Scotland, having joined Livingston on a six-month straight loan. The move also sees him become the second Estonian player in the Scottish Premiership, alongside national teammate Michael Schjönning-Larsen, who signed for Kilmarnock earlier in the winter transfer window.
Tamm arrives at Livingston with the task of helping the club climb out of trouble. Livingston currently sit bottom of the Scottish Premiership, having recorded just one victory in 20 matches and amassed nine points, leaving them four points adrift of their nearest rivals – Kilmarnock.
Despite his recent challenges, Tamm’s previously was named Premium Liiga Player of the Year in 2024 and finished the season as top scorer with 28 goals for Nõmme Kalju. Prior to his move abroad, Tamm had represented only Kalju at club level, scoring 87 goals in 172 appearances.
The Estonian forward could make his Livingston debut as early as this Saturday, when his new club host Kilmarnock in a crucial relegation clash – an encounter that could see Tamm face his international teammate Schjönning-Larsen.
