FK Grobiņa have announced that for the 2026 season they will loan in promising full-back Aleksandrs Molotkovs from their neighbours FK Liepāja.

The 18-year-old defender is a graduate of the Daugavpils Football School. Molotkovs made his Virslīga debut back in the 2024 season at just 16 years of age, going on to play 28 matches in Latvia’s top division. His rapid development earned him a long-term contract with FK Liepāja.

Last season, the young defender gained further experience on loan at FK Metta, where he featured in 25 Virslīga matches. During that spell, Molotkovs also scored his first Virslīga goal. Now, Molotkovs is set for another loan move, this time to FK Grobiņa.

On the international stage, Molotkovs has already accumulated 29 appearances across Latvia’s youth national teams and made his debut for the Latvia U-21 national team in 2025.

FK Grobiņa, who retained their place in the Virslīga last season after winning the relegation play-offs against JDFS Alberts, are preparing for their third consecutive season in Latvia’s top division. Alongside Molotkovs, the club has already strengthened its squad with former Tukums 2000 wide player Artem Kholod, as well as Nigerian defensive midfielder Olatodun Olatunde-Matthew, who arrives from Moldovan side Milsami.
