Latvian champions FC RFS have strengthened their squad with the signing of Serbian fullback Aleksandar Filipović, according to the Latvian Football Federation’s official transfer section.
The 30-year-old defender spent the last three seasons with Serbian SuperLiga side Partizan Belgrade. In the previous campaign, Filipović made 30 league appearances, scoring four goals and helping Partizan finish second in the league-trailing only their fierce rivals, Crvena Zvezda.
Over the course of his career, Filipović has also featured for BATE Borisov, as well as Serbian clubs Jagodina and Voždovac.
On the international stage, Filipović has represented Serbia at various youth levels and boasts a prestigious title in his résumé – he was part of the Serbian U-19 national team that won the 2013 UEFA European Under-19 Championship. The defender played every minute of all five matches, including the final, where Serbia triumphed 1-0 over France.
RFS will kick off their UEFA Europa League third qualifying round campaign this Wednesday, as they host Finnish champions KuPS at the LNK Sporta Parks in Riga.
