The Estonian Football Association (EJL) and the Laagri Education and Sports Centre have reached an agreement to replace the artificial turf at Laagri Stadium, with the upgrade set to take place during the summer of 2025.
“This renovation will address the biggest concern among A. Le Coq Premium Liiga match pitches,” said Tõnu Sirel, infrastructure advisor at the EJL. “We’re pleased to have brought forward a project originally scheduled for 2027 by two years through effective cooperation with the local municipality. We extend our thanks to Saue Municipal Government, Saue JK, Mayor Andres Laisk, Sports Committee Chair Valdis Toomast, and the Laagri Education and Sports Centre for their prompt and constructive collaboration.”
Laagri Stadium serves as the home ground for top-flight club Harju JK Laagri and also hosts local Saue JK.
The Laagri upgrade is part of a wider effort to improve football infrastructure across Estonia in 2025. This year, the turf at Fama Stadium in Narva has already been replaced, construction of a football hall is underway in Rakvere, and preparations have begun for a new hall on Punase Street in Tallinn.
“Each of these projects marks an important step forward,” Sirel added. “We continue to work closely with clubs, local authorities, and the national government to improve conditions for everyone involved in Estonian football.”
New pitch will be second upgrade for the Laagri stadium in 2025 with procurement for a new stand with a roof launched in February with works set to complete by end of July.
