May turned into a showcase month for Kauno Žalgiris in the TOPsport A Lyga, as the club claimed all three monthly honors.
The spotlight shone brightest on 31-year-old Serbian striker Dejan Georgijević, who was named Player of the Month. Georgijević enjoyed a prolific May, netting four goals across four matches, including a brace against FA Šiauliai. His performance was recognized after votes were tallied from commentators, podcast hosts, and team captains in cooperation with the Professional Footballers Association (PFA).
There was little competition for the Coach of the Month honor, which went to Eivinas Černiauskas. Under his guidance, Kauno Žalgiris won all five of their matches in May, boasting a dominant +13 goal differential.
Among young talents, 19-year-old Romualdas Jansonas stood out once again, earning the Young Player of the Month title for the second time this year. He scored three goals in five appearances, further establishing himself as one of the league’s top prospects.
Earlier in the season, Kauno Žalgiris midfielder Amine Benchaib was named March’s best player, while April’s accolade went to Leo Ribeiro of FC Hegelmann. In the coaching category, March saw Donatas Vencevičius of Marijampolė’s Sūduva honored, while April’s recognition went to Dainis Kazakevičš of FA Šiauliai.
Jansonas, now a two-time recipient of the Young Player of the Month award, follows in the footsteps of April’s standout youth player, Davor Rakić, the promising striker from Alytus-based DFK Dainava.
