According to Bulgarian news outlet Plovdiv24, Estonian international centre-back Joonas Tamm has officially parted ways with Botev Plovdiv, leaving the Bulgarian First League club as a free agent.

The 33-year-old joined Botev in the summer of 2023 and quickly became a key presence in the heart of the defense. During his spell with the club, Tamm helped Botev lift the Bulgarian Cup in the 2023/24 season—a major highlight in their recent history. Over two seasons in Plovdiv, he amassed 65 appearances, including 34 matches across all competitions in the most recent campaign.

He started his career with FC Viljandi, but then made a move to the giants Flora Tallinn — a club he returned to multiple times throughout his career — and made over 130 appearances in the green-and-white shirt. Between those spells, Tamm built an impressive résumé abroad, representing various clubs in Sweden, Norway (Sarpsborg 08, Lillestrøm), Poland (Korona Kielce), and Ukraine (Desna Chernihiv, Vorskla Poltava), before moving to Romanian powerhouse FCSB ahead of his Bulgarian chapter.

On the international stage, Tamm has been a pillar of the Estonian national team, earning 65 caps and netting four goals. His performances was recognized in 2022, when he was named Estonian Footballer of the Year.
