In the Swiss Super League, Maksim Paskotši scored his first-ever goal for Grasshoppers, helping them secure an important 2-1 win against Yverdon.
The 22-year-old center-back was suspended for Grasshoppers’ previous match, where they won against Luzern, due to reaching the yellow card limit. However, he returned to the starting lineup today and made an immediate impact. In the 11th minute of the game, Paskotši scored the opening goal, giving Grasshoppers the lead.
This marked his first goal for the club in his 53rd appearance. Later in the first half, Yverdon equalized by converting a penalty kick, but Grasshoppers reclaimed the lead with the winning goal in the 78th minute.
Paskotši played the entire match, bringing his season total to 22 appearances in the league. Grasshoppers are now on a two-game winning streak and, thanks to this victory, have caught up to Yverdon, as both teams have 33 points.
In their next match, the Grasshoppers will host Winterthur, the last-place team in the league, which is six points behind Paskotši’s squad.
In the Slovakian top-flight, Kevor Palumets came on the field from the bench for the third straight game as his Podbrezova suffered a minimal 1-2 defeat against Trnava.
The 22-year-old midfielder has made nine appearances for Podbrezova since moving to Slovakia in the winter transfer window. His team is 6th in the league table with 32 points after 27 games.
