In the Bulgarian EfBet Liga, Estonian national team players Matvei Igonen and Joonas Tamm played the entire match as Botev Plovdiv drew goalless against Beroe.

The 33-year-old defender Tamm returned to the field for the club three days earlier, playing a full match in another draw against Levski Sofia. He had missed more than a month due to injury, with his last appearance occurring on February 22nd against CSKA Sofia.

Meanwhile, Matvei Igonen was named the starting goalkeeper for this match because the regular goalkeeper, Danish Hans Christian Bernat, was suspended due to accumulating four yellow cards. Igonen’s last league match was on December 19th of the previous year, where Botev Plovdiv lost 2-4 against Ludogorets.

Botev Plovdiv, who had previously defeated Beroe in their first meeting of the season, dominated the game today but couldn’t secure a goal. The opposition goalkeeper produced an impressive performance, making seven saves. Igonen, on the other hand, made his first save of the match in the 82nd minute after a long-range attempt from a Beroe attacker. The match ended in a goalless draw as Igonen’s and Tamm’s clubs lost important points in the battle for the Championship group.

With three games to go till the teams are split into three groups, Botev Plovdiv are 5th in the league table with 44 points. They are three points behind Arda who are in the 4th place, which would guarantee a Championship Group where the top four teams remain.

Botev Plovdiv’s next match will be on Saturday, when they play an away game against the third-place team Cherno More.
