Power Rankings update after the international window

While there is not much to update due to club football being on pause for the international window, a handful of clubs in the Baltics did hold friendlies among themselves, giving us a rare in-season opportunity for direct comparison.

Four friendlies were scheduled between top-tier Baltic clubs, all in Lithuania, of which three took place. These were:

  • FC Džiugas Telšiai 1-1 FS Jelgava
  • Hegelmann FC 3-3 FK Liepāja
  • FK Riteriai 1-3 BFC Daugavpils

additionally, FK Panevėžys were supposed to play FK Auda, but that match was cancelled.

Impact on power coefficients

Coming into the international break, the opponents were ranked as follows:

#6 FK Liepāja (801)

#12 Hegelmann FC (676)

#14 BFC Daugavpils (659)

#20 FC Džiugas Telšiai (592)

#24 FS Jelgava (553)

#28 FK Riteriai (517)

Because two of the three matches resulted in a draw, coefficient changes between those opponents were minimal and did not affect their place in the ranking. The largest coefficient loss/gain was between Hegelmann and Liepāja, where Hegelmann gained 3 coefficient points and the Latvian club lost the same amount but this change does not impact the position of either club in a meaningful way.

Club football in the Baltics resumes already on Friday, with A Lyga leading us into GW4!
