In today’s Spanish La Liga action the goalkeeper Karl Hein allowed two goals as Real Valladolid suffered another defeat, this time against their table rivals Valencia, losing 1-2.
This match was especially significant for Valladolid, coming on the heels of a draw against Las Palmas that ended their seven-game losing streak. Before this game, Valencia was eight points ahead of Valladolid, sitting in 17th place, which is the last position to avoid relegation.
Valladolid got off to a poor start once again. In the 7th minute, an unfortunate bounce allowed Valencia’s Diego Lopez to score with a shot into the bottom right corner, giving Valencia an early lead.
Towards the end of the first half, Real Valladolid managed to equalize. Valencia’s goalkeeper, Mamardashvili, made a critical error while passing the ball, which was intercepted by Juanmi Latasa, who scored for the second consecutive league game.
In the second half, Valladolid conceded again due to a miscommunication between a defender and Hein. Umar Sadiq scored a goal, restoring Valencia’s lead. The Estonian goalkeeper would surely want that one back.
Valladolid pushed for another equalizer, but Mamardashvili made several excellent saves to help Valencia secure the win and three points.
As a result, Real Valladolid remains at the bottom of the league table, now eight points behind Las Palmas with just 11 games remaining. Their next match will be next Saturday, when they host Celta Vigo.
