The Latvian Football Federation (LFF) has announced a change in the coaching staff of the Latvian national football team. The previous goalkeeping coach, Andris Vaņins, has been replaced by Italian specialist Gabriele Aldegani.

Andris Vaņins, a 44-year-old Latvian, was appointed as the national team’s goalkeeping coach when Paolo Nicolato was named head coach. He previously served as the goalkeeping coach for FC Sion in the Swiss Super League. During his playing career, Vaņins made 99 appearances for the Latvian national team and was named Latvian Footballer of the Year five times.

His successor, Gabriele Aldegani, is a 48-year-old Italian who has experience coaching goalkeepers at several clubs, including Pescara and Pordenone in Italy. Most recently, he worked as a goalkeeping coach for FC U Craiova in Romania.

The Latvian national team will begin their World Cup qualifying campaign on March 21, playing an away match against Andorra. Just three days later, they will face England in a match at Wembley Stadium.
