On the opening day of the Latvian Virslīga, FK Auda has officially managed to register Latvian national team midfielder Renārs Varslavāns. The registration process was filled with complications, and up until today, it was uncertain whether it would be successful.

The 23-year-old attacking midfielder, a product of FK Metta’s academy, made a move to FC RFS in 2020, where he spent three seasons. Before the 2023 season, Varslavāns transferred to Valmiera FC but suffered a severe injury, limiting his playtime that season. However, in 2024, he bounced back, becoming one of Valmiera FC’s key players. He played 30 matches in the Virslīga, scoring four goals and providing two assists. Varslavāns is also a member of the Latvian national team, having made 14 appearances and scoring one goal for his country. Now, just in time for the first-round match, Renārs Varslavāns has been registered as an FK Auda player. He reunites with his former coach, Jurģis Kalns, ahead of a crucial encounter against his previous club, FC RFS.

In addition to Varslavāns, FK Auda has also strengthened its squad by signing 20-year-old Cameroonian defensive midfielder Karl Gameni Wassom. Wassom joined Riga FC’s reserves last season but quickly proved himself, earning the captain’s armband and securing a loan move to FK Tukums in the Virslīga, where he became a first-team regular. Over the winter, Wassom trained with Riga FC, participating in two training camps in Dubai and Turkey. Now, he joins FK Auda, aiming to bolster the squad in their quest to challenge Riga’s dominant clubs for the championship title.
